Manufacturer Part Number: WP2149705

The Light Switch is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This switch is responsible for controlling the refrigerator's interior light, turning it on when the door is opened and off when it is closed.

Symptoms of a failing refrigerator light switch include:

  • The interior light staying on when the refrigerator door is closed
  • The light not activating when the refrigerator door is opened
  • Intermittent or flickering light due to a loose connection or faulty switch

Causes of light switch failure typically involve mechanical wear from repeated use, accumulation of dirt or debris that can interfere with the switch mechanism, or electrical issues such as short circuits.

This OEM part is also compatible with other brands manufactured by Whirlpool, including Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, and others.

Answer

Wayne, if all three LED modules have been replaced, the failure would either be in the door switches or the wire harness running through the cabin liner. The door switches can be tested for continuity from the black wired terminal to the yellow wired terminal when the appliance power cord is unplugged. There should be continuity every time the switch being tested is released after being pressed in. If one does not have continuity after being released, that specific switch has failed. If there is continuity every time, there is likely a wire failure. Unfortunately, a wire failure inside of the liner is not repairable.
