Michael for Model Number maytag la512 We had an overflow situation today. I noticed the water would not stop filling even when I unplugged the machine, turned the dial or anything else. I had to shut off the water supply. What part would I need? Also, if possible, please explain how this machine even knows when to stop filling so I may understand this situation more. I dont want to start buying parts that may not be the solution.
Answer Hello Michael! There is a water level switch on the unit that has a hose that runs from the tub to the switch, this detects the amount of water that enters the tub. The more water that enters the tub, the more pressure there is in the hose. Once the washer reaches the desired water level the water level switch will send a signal to the water valve to shut off. When an overfill situation occurs and you unplug the unit and the washer continues to fill, that is an indicator that the water inlet valve is defective and needs to be replaced. If the unit were to stop filling with water you would then check the hose from the tub to the switch to make sure it didn't kink or clogged and replace the water level switch. The part number for the water inlet valve needed for your unit is 205613. I hope this information helps you. Thanks! Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Saturday, May 26, 2012
