Lisa for Model Number MED5870TW0 My Maytag dryer will not heat again! I replaced the element back in January 2011 even though the problem was that a fuse in the electrical panel had blown (enough juice to turn and blow, but not heat dryer). I checked all fuses in back of dryer with my digital multimeter. All of them ranged between 0.00 and 0.01 except for the two brass colored points on the dryer cycle thermostat (has four points total)which don't register at all on the multimeter. Do you thing this could be the issue, or something more serious like the timer? Thanks in advance!
Answer Hello Lisa. That is the cycling thermostat WP8318268 and it is testing good. You will need to trace and see where your losing voltage to the heater. It could be the motor 279827 or the timer. Make sure there is 240 volts coming to the dryer at the terminal block 279320. You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
