Jim L. for Model Number mtw5700TQ0 Our Maytag fills up on the wash cycle and then stops the cycle. Agitator does not start. I replaced the timer. same problem. Note if I slam the lid, it will continue the agitator starts up and it runs through the comlete cycle. I replaced the timer because it seamed like that was the problem from past experience.
Answer Hello Jim, This sounds like the lid switch (AP3180933) has either failed or some parts in the assembly have come loose, not allowing the lid switch not to be activated. The first thing you should do is open the lid and make sure the two screws on the far left side of the lid that holds the hinge assembly to the lid are tight.
