Jim May 10, 2021 for Model Number mtw5740tq0 My maytag washer model mtw5740tq0 when put on 15 min. normal cycle it works fine, but if it's set to18 it won't advance off 18. Do you know what would cause this?
Mblake April 26, 2017 for Model Number Mtw5740tq0 Water just stopped flowing after initial burst. Tried several different cycles with same results. No water flow at all. Is the timer the issue?
1 Answer Hello Mblake. Check and make sure the hot and cold valve are both working. If so, then you will need to test the pressure switch W10339250 on the unit and see if it is bad. If it checks good, then new would be the timer. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Cheryl April 17, 2017 for Model Number W10089738 My Maytag Centennial Commercial Technology washer when I turn it on immediately goes into spin cycle, then if it starts to fill with water when it goes into spin the water still keeps running so my laundry is still wet. What can it be.
1 Answer Hello Cheryl. It sounds like the control board is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...

Steve P. January 21, 2017 for Model Number Maytag MTW5840 No matter what cycle we set the machine for, when we pull the timer switch out, it waits about 5 seconds before beginning. This model has no delay start. Do I need to replace the timer or is there something else wrong?
George May 26, 2016 for Model Number MTW5840WT Washer fails to properly complete a cycle. Perhaps a timer issue as in some locations in a cycle I can apply slight inward pressure to the timer knob and it will engage. Without that pressure, I think the timer knob rotates, but actions do not function. The recently completed cycle left water in the tub. So, it seems that the timer knob rotates during a cycle, but the washer functions do not work consistently. Please advise.
1 Answer George, Based on your post information, we'd have to agree with you, the peoblem is most likely the timer WPW10111389. The timer cam wheel has probably "slipped" on the timer shaft and is not activating the internal switch contacts properly. By pressing in on the timer knob, the wheel and contacts align and activate properly. Replace the timer and you should be fine. Read More...
Jerry January 05, 2016 for Model Number MTW5620TQ2 I set it to start to wash but it takes 10 minutes to begin and another 10 minutes to move on to the next cycle. Basically there's a delay in the timer.
1 Answer Hello Jerry. You will want to check and make sure the valve is filling properly. If so, then you will need to order and replace the timer on the unit. Read More...
George July 21, 2015 for Model Number MTW5740TQ0 The breaker trips as soon as I pull the time knob to on (Same on any cycle). Motor checks out OK. I suspect it is the timer motor shorted out?
1 Answer Hello George. You will need to check for a dead short on the harness on the unit. If the harness is good, then you will check the parts for damage. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Eric January 31, 2015 for Model Number MVWC500VW0 Washer filled up. Timer would not advance. Manually advanced timer. No drain or spin at any position. Would wait 5-10 minutes and check timer for movement. No movement. Lid switch test N/C with lid closed. Breaks continuity when open. Installed jumper on wiring harness side of lid switch. (yeah I know imminent death and destruction) No change. Tested the water level switch. blow - click. tested continuity on all 3 pins with switch normal and made. Check those results against a brand new one. Results the same. I am leaning towards the Timer any thoughts?
1 Answer Eric, It sounds like you are on the right track in that the timer is not advancing and stops after the fill and will do nothing else. The part number for the timer is WPW10111389. Read More...
Chrisel January 24, 2015 for Model Number MTW5740TQ0 I have a Maytag performa and it seems to get stuck in the wash cycle & never advances to the rinse cycle. I can manually move it to the rinse cycle & from there it does advance to the spin cycle on its own. Is it the timer that's the problem?
1 Answer Chrisel, Based on the information, this issue would most likely be caused by the timer sticking and not advancing. You would want to replace the timer for this issue. Read More...
