Christina The lid doesn't make it come on and off, pushing back on the top panel makes it come back on when it cuts off. I can push on the front where the knob you pull out to turn it on and it will start back up.
Answer Hello Christina! The lid switch WP8318084 on your model is covered by the control panel. When moving the panel you can move the wiring around causing it to activate the lid switch.
