Jackie for Model Number Amana TH21TW I'm not certain, but I believe I may need the Defrost Timer (AP4247645) for my frig. The motor/compressor will stop running and the freezer and fresh food sections will get warm, unless I manually slide the deepfreeze lever in the fresh food section back to Off and forward up to a number 7 until I hear a click and the motor/compressor restarts the cooling process. Cooling will take place continuously uninterrupted for up to two hours or more and then shutdown again for hours. It very rarely will restart automatically, and if not manually restarted at least a few or more times daily with the deefreeze slider (as above), the meats will get soft in the freezer and the fresh food department will get warm. This situation has lasted for several months. Since the Defrost Timer seems to be located near the Deepfreeze temperature slider where I hear the audible click to restart the motor/compressor, I thought it might be the part I need to replace. Could you please give me your expert opinion on what I need to replace/repair? If you agree that I may need a Defrost Timer, are there any installation instructions that come with the part or, otherwise follow the diagram(s) on your site? Thank you very much.
Answer Jackie, The defrost timer would only send the unit into a defrost every 8 to 12 hours. Since you are having to turn the freezer control knob all the way down to off and then back up to 7 this would indicate a bad freezer control R9700006.
