Ac for Model Number Kenmore 596.72919200 defrost timer 67001036 Hello. So the freezer just quit a few days ago...no signs of ice or anything cold. Condenser fan and other fans were running, but not the compressor. Thought it was the relay at first as capacitor tested ok on an analogue ohm meter...replaced the relay to no avail. Still seems weird to me that the condenser fan would be on--and not the compressor--but I went ahead and started looking at the defrost timer. It is cycling fine between terminals 1 & 2 and 1 & 4, but it is continually showing open between terminals 1 & 3 (also open between 2 & 4). I went ahead and cycled it into the compressor on state (continuity between terminals 1 & 4) and am hoping to see the compressor come on. I'm not sure I'm on the right track though.
Answer Hello AC. If the fans are running, so should the compressor. You need to test for power to the compressor. If it is there, and it does not run, replace the compressor on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
