Chris for Model Number MDE8600AYW I have a Maytag Dryer with a mind of its own. On the IntelliDry (moisture sensing) cycles, the dryer heats, dries and the timer advances past the off position but the dryer continues to heat and run until I open the door or turn it off. (It will run all night). On the timed drying cycle, it works perfectly and shuts off properly when it's supposed. Last night I took the entire dryer apart. I vacuumed it all and checked for burnt and loose wiring. All wiring was fine. Is this a bad timer, bad sensor of something else?
Answer Chris, You need to check the sensor bar and the wires to the sensor bar, inside the drum remove and clean the sensor bar with alcohol or electrical contact cleaner, make sure the area under the sensor bar is clean as well, and the wires are not damaged. If that doesn't solve the issue, you'll need a new "dryness display' assembly WP33002389 . The auto dry circuit in the printed circuit board would have failed and is causing the issue.
