Kristy K January 25, 2014 for Model Number MDE4000AYQ My dryer needs a new timer, but there are two different ones for my model on your site. I cannot see any difference between them besides price. Please Advise. THANK YOU!
1 Answer Kristy, the difference is the internal contacts in the timer itself. you will need to determine the part needed by the " series" number of the dryer ( the first two digits of the serial number) series 10 through 40 will need the WP33001730 timer, and series 41 and above will need the WP33002676. They are not interchangeable, so you'll need to verify the serial number and order the correct part number based on that. Read More...
Dustin October 19, 2013 for Model Number MDE8600AYW Same problem as Doug, dryer timer keeps ticking away. The dryer will stop when you open the door and will not start again until you press the button. I checked the dryness sensor, no visually burnt contacts. I even plugged the dryer in without the sensor connected and the timer stopped ticking but still would not stop the dryer when manually advanced to the OFF positions.
1 Answer Hello Dustin. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like you need to order and replace the timer in the unit. Read More...
Randy August 02, 2013 for Model Number MDG4000BWW In the past month or so sometimes when we hit the start button on the dryer it would blow the breaker. So I removed the wires from the start button and it did the same thing with the timer in an on position. I then removed the double grey main power wire to the timer, plugged it back in and it DID NOT blow the breaker. Do I assume it is the timer?
Dennis June 14, 2013 for Model Number MDE8600AYW Hi, I need to replace the timer on my dryer, the model number is MDE8600AYW and the serial no is 36468331ZH. Can you tell what timer I need to purchase? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Dennis. You will need to order part number WP33001730 for the correct timer. Read More...
Doug January 26, 2013 for Model Number MDE4000AYW Our dryer was working fine until we moved it to another location. Now the dryer continues to run and does not stop when the timer gets to the stop location. The drum will stop when you open the door and will not start back unless you press the on button. The timer continues to go around and will only stop if you unplug the dryer. I pulled one of the wires off of the on button and pluged the dryer back in and the timer still continues to go around without the rest of the dryer going. Do you think I need to replace the timer, if so which one 33001730 or 33002676? Thanks Doug
1 Answer Doug, Before you replace the timer, you may want to inspect the dryness control WP33002389, for loose wires and possible burnt tracers on the board. You could have a "fused" circuit, feeding power to the timer motor, causing it to continually run. The timer part number should you need it, is based on the serial number, if the serial number starts with 10 thru 40, you'll need WP33001730 if the serial number starts with 41 or above, you'll need WP33002676. Steve December 04, 2012 for Model Number MDE4000AYW Maytag Electric Dryer - MDE4000AYW, S/N: 31442399YU Timer runs constantly regardless of timed dry or automatic (moisture sensor) cycles. Timer even runs with the dryer door open does not stop at any of the "off" positions on the dial, just keeps going to the next cycle. Looking at the schematic, it appears that the power (L1) is never being switched off through the timer contact set 1. This dryer does have the electronic moisture sensor for automatic drying - is 33002676 the correct timer?
1 Answer Hello Steve, You are correct. Contact number 1 has to be stuck in the timer. The correct timer for your unit as per the manufacturer is WP33001730. Read More...
