Mark for Model Number LGR8648PQ1 Roughly 10 year old, LP Gas dryer, 8 cycle, 4 temp, commercial quality (it says) 2 Questions: 1. Tried numerous types of drying with the timer rotating as expected during the elapsed time and same problem has occurred: You can hear the relay click to start the heat part of the drying cycle and see the glow of the igniter, stays on for about 5 seconds and then turns off, but the gas doesn't come on and generate the flame. The outlet is clear as I had the back off last week when this problem was intermittent and seemed to fix itself (temporarily). 2. This is an 8 function timer and you only hear it clicking as you turn it CW in a few positions. Seems upon arriving at an OFF position there is a definite click. Other thing is that it rotates CCW with no resistance. Is it supposed to rotate CCW. I did check the thermal fuse last week while into it and it was good. Thanks, Mark
Answer Hello Mark. Timer seems to be fine in the unit. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter to see if it is good. If it is not glowing, test for power. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
