Don B for Model Number GST9679PW1 when running GFI breaker in laundry room blows. GFI in main panel does not. Happens when Dryer is on. Usually stops when timer is in same spot, but not always. Just stopped now. I pulled plug and reset GFI. Still not working. Sometimes this works and sometimes moving dial on timer would work with moving timer. Did work when I moved timer to spin, but I stopped machine and reset timer to same place it failed and would blow circuit breaker.
Answer Don, It could be a timer issue, but you should eliminate the other possibilities first. Will the washer work properly, when the dryer is not operating ? What is the amperage rating for the GFI receptacle? What other components or appliances are on the same GFI circuit ? It's more likely that there is enough draw on the power supply / circuit, to cause the GFI circuit to trip when the motor amperage increases when the motor starts. Thanks Read More...
