Cinda N for Model Number Whilpool WTW5540SQ0 Original timer knob broke off the stem leaving the black grip with four holes in it on the stem. I have obtained a new knob. Having a hard time removing the black grip from the stem on the washer. Have attempted to pull it off with needle nose pliers but it doesn't want to come off. How hard should I pull?
Answer Cinda, In order to remove the timer knob you will need to access the back of the timer. You will do this by removing the screw at the back corners of the control panel and rolling the control panel up. Once this is done, use a small flat blade screwdriver and pull the tab in the center of the timer up and the knob should slide off. Put the new knob on and then push the pin back in place.
