Cinda, In order to remove the timer knob you will need to access the back of the timer. You will do this by removing the screw at the back corners of the control panel and rolling the control panel up. Once this is done, use a small flat blade screwdriver and pull the tab in the center of the timer up and the knob should slide off. Put the new knob on and then push the pin back in place.

Doug for Model Number WTW5300SQ0

I ordered knob #8566022 to replace a broken knob. It snapped into place and was fine for a few months, but then the knob started falling out when I would turn the washer on. I ordered another knob, and this one started falling out after a couple of weeks. Does the knob just press in to the shaft? I read elsewhere that something should be done on the rear of the timer to release or attach the knob, but not sure if this is referring to my washer model. It seems that the knob is just pushed onto the shaft. Please advise. Thanks.

Doug! You are absolutely correct, for this design of timer there is something on the rear that has to be held down or pulled. If you go to the timer part number WP8546685, we have a video that explains it in further detail. Thanks!

Hello Pat. The part you refer too is a clip located inside the knob. You would want to take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull it off gently. Be careful not to damage the shaft of the switch, thanks!

Edward, On the back of timer there should be a peg that goes through the shaft that you would need to pull out on in order to push the knob on to replace the knob. Once the pin is pulled you can push the knob on and reseat the pin.

Hello Mike. There is a clip on the back of the timer. With the knob pressed in, you will hold the clip and pull out on the timer knob WP8566022. These can be a little tricky to remove. The other knob WP8565944 should just pull off the switch. Hope this helps.
