By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18023868
Manufacturer Part Number: WP33001932

This timer with a built-in chime controls cycle sequencing and provides an audible end-of-cycle signal so the appliance finishes and alerts you when a cycle is complete. It replaces a failed or silent control timer. What it does:

  • Advances and times cycles so the appliance runs through its programmed steps.
  • Sounds an audible chime at the end of a cycle to notify you the cycle is finished.
  • Can cause missed cycle advances or no end-of-cycle alert when it fails.
  • Common symptom: no chime or the appliance won't progress through cycles.
What's included: One timer assembly with chime. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before beginning any service.
  • Access usually requires removing the control panel or console; retain screws and knobs for reassembly.
  • Transfer any mounting brackets or knobs from the old unit to the new one if required.

Answer

Kenneth, This would not be a timer issue. Yes when you set the timer to a cycle the heater comes on and this is because the timer is just one side of the heating circuit. The other side of the circuit would be the motor of the unit. The motor has a internal switch known as a centrifugal switch that if this is stuck it will cause the unit to heat and not tumble by just turning the timer on. You will want to get into the unit and access the motor. Clean any and all lint out of the cabinet and from the motor. It is possible that there is lint causing the centrifugal switch to stick. If you clean and still will not do this then the issue will be a faulty motor.
