Part Number: OEM18017397
Manufacturer Part Number: WP21002232

This is the timer for a washing machine unit. The timer controls the electrical parts and the length of time that the washing machine cycles run. This part is responsible for the water level, filling the tub and draining the tub, and settings. When the timer goes bad, the washing machine will no longer go through its cycles and it won't advance. It may stall in the middle of a cycle, skip a cycle, or won't even start at all. The timer will stop working if it burns out. Unplug the washing machine from the wall outlet before replacing this part. This replacement is fairly easy and takes approximately one hour to complete, depending upon the skill level of the person performing the task. This timer is compatible with washing machines that are manufactured by Maytag and Whirlpool. It is sold individually and it comes directly from the manufacturer. This part is made out of high-quality materials.

Tom for Model Number maytag legacy mav408daww

I need help. Wasnt' spinning fast enough to throw out all the water in the clothes. Made squealing noise when stopping. replaced thrust bearing assy - bought it from you. Sqealing stopped. stil not throwing out enough water. Now it seems to agitate sometimes when it should spin and spin when it should agitate. Now in spin mode, gets up to a good speed and suddenly stops to start all over again. Also when I move the timer to different settings it doesn't necessarily respond with the correct action, ie move it to delicate spin and it agitates. No real pattern here. Help. UP to my knees in dirty clothes.

Answer

Hello Tom. Use the instructions you received with the thrust bearing kit 12002213 and make sure it is working properly. It sounds like you may need to use both washers sent with the kit to release the brake package properly. If the kit is working properly, and the bearing in the tub is not roaring and is good, you may have a bad belt WP21352320. Hope this helps.
