Donna June 26, 2019 for Model Number Maytag MAVT236AWW The washer works in all cycles; however, it won't forward to each cycle on its own. Each cycle works, so I set a timer on my phone to remind me to forward to the next cycle. I turn the cycle off, forward the dial to the next cycle, set a timer, and repeat the steps until the spin cycle is complete. If I didn't do this, it would stay in the agitator mode forever. It sounds like the timer to me, but is the timer considered an electrical part? If I install the timer and the machine doesn't work still, can I return the timer for a full refund?
1 Answer Donna, the timer WP21002232 is going to be the most likely issue as it seems like the timer motor is not advancing or contacts fused. You may want to inspect for any sign of a scorch mark as this could indicate a component failure. If there is a scorch mark (dark brown residue) then you may want to inspect that wire for any damage and test the component that the wire goes to. Read More...
Andrew February 03, 2017 for Model Number MAV208DAWW When I pull the timer to start, the washer fills the basin then does some agitation, but it seems to stop, and then there is no activity from the washer although the timer rolls forward to the end. I can sometimes get an action to trigger by pulling hard on the handle and/or jostling it up or down. At the next change in status, it runs for about a second, then stops until the ends. I suspect the timer is just worn out. Is that the case? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Andrew, I would have to agree that the timer WP21002232 is the issue considering the circumstances described. Read More...
Pogi September 29, 2014 for Model Number MAV408DAWW My washer wash and drain water before the rinse cycle, but do not drain in the final spin and only turn slowly. If you stop it and turn it on in the spin cycle it will start draining. Why do I need to stop it first before it drains. I tried it several times and the result are the same. It won't drain on the spin cycle but every time you stop and start in the spin cycle it will start working. If its draining on different cycle, so it means the pump is good right? or no? could it be a bad timer also? Thanks
1 Answer Pogi, With the unit draining during between main wash and rinse then the pump would not be bad. This issue would sound like it would be caused by the thrust bearing sticking and not allowing the unit to spin properly. The part number for the thrust bearing is 12002213. Read More...
Hulas September 27, 2014 for Model Number MAV408DAWW My washer wont drain water in a spin cycle,, tub just turns slowly till timer expired.but if you do it again in spin cycle it will start draining water and spins..but before it start water will turns on for a few seconds while on the start of spin.....sometimes also it just fill water in the beginning of the cycle but not go to the next...also smells burning. .tenx
1 Answer Hulas, You will want to check the drain pump for easy turning of the pulley. The drain pump may be seizing up which would cause this type of issue. Also check the belt to make sure that it is not worn or damaged. Read More...
Rob June 18, 2013 for Model Number mav6000awq Machine has stop working, at first it would fill and agitate then stop and then a burning smell, I was able to turn the timer to drain it and checked it over it belt fine motor fine it pump fine. I check the brake it moves up. Not sure if the timer was engaging both spine and drain? I tried to test the machine again and now it wont start up. My first though is that the timer is not working, would that be the issue.
1 Answer Hello Rob. Check and make sure the tub is not locked up due to a bad bearing. If not, and there is no power from the timer, you will need to order and replace the timer in the unit. Read More...
Jake362x January 08, 2013 for Model Number MAV208DAWW Washer works fine on all cycles, but at the end of the cycle, does not turn off, keeps spinning. If I turn the knob by hand, still does not turn off. No "click" at off position on any cycle. Do I have to replace the timer for this?

E Rob E April 23, 2012 for Model Number Maytag MAV9750AWW How can I tell if the motor or the timer is bad. Washer will not spin and bad electrical burn smell is present. Even if I advance the knob it will not spin.
1 Answer ErobE, First check and make sure there are not a small article stuck at the top ot between the tubs.If the washer fills and washes, but won't spin and drain, the motor WP21001950 is not the issue(usually), and you'll need to concentrate on the wiring and timer 22004010 or 22004309 depending on the serial number on the washer. Tom January 26, 2012 for Model Number maytag legacy mav408daww I need help. Wasnt' spinning fast enough to throw out all the water in the clothes. Made squealing noise when stopping. replaced thrust bearing assy - bought it from you. Sqealing stopped. stil not throwing out enough water. Now it seems to agitate sometimes when it should spin and spin when it should agitate. Now in spin mode, gets up to a good speed and suddenly stops to start all over again. Also when I move the timer to different settings it doesn't necessarily respond with the correct action, ie move it to delicate spin and it agitates. No real pattern here. Help. UP to my knees in dirty clothes.
1 Answer Hello Tom. Use the instructions you received with the thrust bearing kit 12002213 and make sure it is working properly. It sounds like you may need to use both washers sent with the kit to release the brake package properly. If the kit is working properly, and the bearing in the tub is not roaring and is good, you may have a bad belt WP21352320. Hope this helps. Read More...
