Hello Bruce! Have you tried to run the dryer on auto dry with the vent disconnected to see if the problem still persists? If the exhaust vent is too long causing it to have too many 90 deg turns or is reduced in diameter anywhere in the system it can cause the dryer to overheat and not allow the cycling thermostat to operate. You could have a bad cycling thermostat WP694674 or broken wiring from the thermostat to the timer. Hope this helps!
