Bruce for Model Number Maytag DE312 Hey guys, you have been great but I still have a timer that doesn't move between the "more dry" and "less dry" settings on "Auto dry". I installed the new timer you sent and it still doesn't move till I move it past the "less dry" setting and then the dryer finishes and shuts off. It also moves on the "Time setting". The vent has been totally cleaned and the heater does heat. I hate to keep asking, but can it be something else?
Answer Hello Bruce! Have you tried to run the dryer on auto dry with the vent disconnected to see if the problem still persists? If the exhaust vent is too long causing it to have too many 90 deg turns or is reduced in diameter anywhere in the system it can cause the dryer to overheat and not allow the cycling thermostat to operate. You could have a bad cycling thermostat WP694674 or broken wiring from the thermostat to the timer. Hope this helps! Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, May 16, 2011
