This dryer timer is the cycle control that sequences power to the motor and heater so the dryer advances through settings and shuts off at the correct time. Replacing a worn timer restores consistent cycle timing and dependable operation.

  • Controls the duration and order of drying operations
  • Routes power to motor and heating circuits, advances the dial, and turns dryer off at end of cycle
  • Common failure symptoms: cycle won't advance or runs indefinitely
  • Won't start when the timer is set/turned
  • Shuts off too soon, won't shut off, or inconsistent auto-dry performance
What's included: 1 timer assembly Install notes:
  • Disconnect power; for gas models, also shut off the gas supply
  • Access the timer inside the control console; remove knob/dial and mounting screws
  • Label or photograph wiring; transfer one wire at a time to matching terminals
  • Secure the timer, reassemble, and test a short cycle

Hello Michael, This is the exhaust duct. You see, if the exhaust is restricted, the moisture is blown past the felt drum seals back into the cabinet. Since the cabinet is the air intake, (note the vents on the units' back), the moisture is recirculated and passed across the sensors again. Since the moisture is sensed again, the voltage is still not sent to the timer motor so it cannot advance. Check the exhaust for crimps or clogs as this is the most probable cause and the most denied by customers. Remember the duct should be as short and straight as possible while being a full 4 inches for proper air flow. The felt seals cannot hold excessive back pressure.
