Carol October 09, 2013 for Model Number MDE9316AYW We're able to dry clothes by turning the timer to any given number of minutes but the timer doesn't advance or move. I have to set the microwave timer to remind myself to check the clothes so I don't waste electricity. Would it be just the timer I need to replace?
1 Answer Hello Carol. If there is power to the timer motor, and it does not advance, replace the timer. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Jojol May 27, 2013 for Model Number MDG9316AWW Timer does not click when turning to set, dryer operates but does not shut off. Do I need to replace the timer?
1 Answer Hello JoJol. Test for power to the timer motor. If there is power there, and the timer does not advance, you will need to order and replace the timer on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Michael C. July 25, 2012 for Model Number MDE9316AYW My dryer works properly in the fluff and time dry positions. In both auto dry positions it does not advance to the auto shut off position and continues to run. Is it the timer or the moisture sensor?
1 Answer Hello Michael, This is the exhaust duct. You see, if the exhaust is restricted, the moisture is blown past the felt drum seals back into the cabinet. Since the cabinet is the air intake, (note the vents on the units' back), the moisture is recirculated and passed across the sensors again. Since the moisture is sensed again, the voltage is still not sent to the timer motor so it cannot advance. Check the exhaust for crimps or clogs as this is the most probable cause and the most denied by customers. Remember the duct should be as short and straight as possible while being a full 4 inches for proper air flow. The felt seals cannot hold excessive back pressure. Read More...
Brian July 05, 2012 for Model Number MDE9316AYW If I use the "time dry" option on the dryer the timer will stop moving when it gets down to about 30 minutes remaining. It will continue making the clicking noise it usually makes when it is counting down and the dryer will run continuously. Is a new timer the correct replacement part?
1 Answer Hello Brian. You will want to test for power at the timer motor. If there is power there, and the timer is not advancing to the off position, you will need to replace the timer WP33001631 on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Joe February 24, 2012 for Model Number mde9316ayw my timer doesn't start in correct position and shuts off before getting to the off position,do i need new timer or can it be adjusted
1 Answer Joe, No the timer cannot be adjusted on the control panel. You really should remove the timer knob and skirt, and check and make sure it hasn't been forced on in the wrong position of the "keyways" are not damaged or loose. Thanks Read More...
James G. February 09, 2012 for Model Number mde9306ayw My dryer runs fine but does not heat and the timer switch does not turn. I just assumed that it was the timer switch and replaced but all the same. What is my problem ?
1 Answer Hi James. Check the hi-limit thermostat part # WP303396 and the thermal fuse part # WP33001762 to make sure they are ohming closed. The heater is part # WP307178 . It needs to ohm out between 8-18 ohms. Not open or shorted to the chassis itself. If these test OK, then see if you are getting live voltage from the blk wire # 33 from the motor to the heater. Tape the door sw. shut and remove the drum. Be careful of the voltage terminals being exposed. Thank You. Read More...
