Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dryer Timer (Part Number: OEM18023802)

Hello Michael, This is the exhaust duct. You see, if the exhaust is restricted, the moisture is blown past the felt drum seals back into the cabinet. Since the cabinet is the air intake, (note the vents on the units' back), the moisture is recirculated and passed across the sensors again. Since the moisture is sensed again, the voltage is still not sent to the timer motor so it cannot advance. Check the exhaust for crimps or clogs as this is the most probable cause and the most denied by customers. Remember the duct should be as short and straight as possible while being a full 4 inches for proper air flow. The felt seals cannot hold excessive back pressure.

Joe, No the timer cannot be adjusted on the control panel. You really should remove the timer knob and skirt, and check and make sure it hasn't been forced on in the wrong position of the "keyways" are not damaged or loose. Thanks

Hi James. Check the hi-limit thermostat part # WP303396 and the thermal fuse part # WP33001762 to make sure they are ohming closed. The heater is part # WP307178 . It needs to ohm out between 8-18 ohms. Not open or shorted to the chassis itself. If these test OK, then see if you are getting live voltage from the blk wire # 33 from the motor to the heater. Tape the door sw. shut and remove the drum. Be careful of the voltage terminals being exposed. Thank You.
