John for Model Number M# MDG6460AWW Serial # 12583602ER I have installed a new timer, but the dryer will not turn off and or the dial even move when it is in the Regular (auto dry mode. Is this an instance where the wiring harness needs to be replaced? and which one is needed?
Answer John, I doubt you need a new wire harness or timer. First thing you need to check is the exhaust temperature or the cycling thermostat. A quick easy test, remove the exhaust vent from the dryer back, check and make sure the filter is clean, and start the dryer on an auto cycle, let it run 10 minutes and see if the timer dial advances, if it does, you have a clogged vent system. If not check the regulating thermostat and orange wire from the themostat back up to the timer. The orange wire supplies 120 VAC to the timer motor, when the regulating thermostat cycles open and turns the burner off. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
