Paykat4 for Model Number MDE7400AYW Our Maytag dryer will not shut off either in the timed setting or in the sensor setting. We had a repairman come out and look at it back in December (yep, we are still trying to get him to come back and fix this) and he FINALLY replaced the sensor assembly and chime, but it still does not shut off in either setting. We called your 800 number and was told to try the timer or sensor bar....do you have any help for us? We just have no idea what to do. It seems that the more loads we do in a day the longer it takes to dry a load (three hours and counting for this last load of towels)! Maybe this is a side issue (taking longer and longer to dry the loads), but we don't know. Any help you have would be appreciated! :)
Answer Hello Paykat4. It sounds like the unit is not heating, or the vent is clogged. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
