Alfred V. for Model Number Maytag Dryer Model MDE6400AYW serial#12503535AV I ordered timer part#AP4042974 per your instructions per E-Mail after I sent my model and serial #s July16. I installed it today and it doesn't work. Do I need part #AP4042974 or did I get a defective part? The dryer does not start when turned on. Thank you
Answer Hello Alfred. You will need to test the thermal fuse AP4037790 first. It should read closed for continuity. If it is good, make sure the door switch AP4319999 is working properly. If not, these can keep the machine from starting. The timer you ordered is the correct timer. I think we may be dealing with another problem here. If the fuse is blown, you will want to check for a restricted or kinked vent. You can test this with a multi-meter AP3873826. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
