Javy Kandela for Model Number PYE2300AYW I replaced the timer on it (wp53-1810) because the old one did not advance I also replaced the heating element. the new timer came without the resisitor , so I install a new resisitor between A & R terminals. problem continues still timer will not advance, please help.
Answer Javy, A quick easy check, Set the dial to the timed dry setting and start the dryer, let it run 10 minutes or so, if the timer dial advances, the timer isn't the problem. The resistor is attached to the proper terminals, and as long as you have 3 to 4 ohms resistance across the resistor wires, it's alright, too. With this type dryer, the dryer has to heat properly in order for the timer to advance in the auto cycles. your first check needs to be to the exhaust vent and vent hood, make sure there aren't any kinks or clogs and the vent hood isn't blocked or collapsed.
