Ajh December 20, 2019 for Model Number LNC7764A71 Dryer won't start, no running at all, door switch seems ok and the thermal fuse over the heating coil in the back is closed. What suggestions to troubleshoot the issue do you have?
1 Answer AJ, Are you sure there's proper voltage at the wall outlet and terminal block on the back of the dryer? Check for a "closed circuit between the L and M terminals on the timer, with a selection made, then check from the M to S terminals when the timer dial is pressed, there should be a " momentary" circuit when the dial is pressed and should open when the dial is released. If all's OK check the wiring between the door switch and motor and the timer and the motor for loose connections or broken wires. Read More...
Buddy L March 14, 2018 for Model Number LNC7766A00 Dryer timer model M460-G. Does it matter which of the two black motor wires goes to the "M" terminal and the "TM" terminal? If you designated these wires as left and right as viewing the timer my old timer had the left wire going to "M" and the right going to "TM." New timer has left wire going to "TM" and right going to "M.
1 Answer Buddy, It will not matter which of the black wires goes to the M and the TM on this. Read More...
Javy Kandela August 17, 2017 for Model Number PYE2300AYW I replaced the timer on it (wp53-1810) because the old one did not advance I also replaced the heating element. the new timer came without the resisitor , so I install a new resisitor between A & R terminals. problem continues still timer will not advance, please help.
1 Answer Javy, A quick easy check, Set the dial to the timed dry setting and start the dryer, let it run 10 minutes or so, if the timer dial advances, the timer isn't the problem. The resistor is attached to the proper terminals, and as long as you have 3 to 4 ohms resistance across the resistor wires, it's alright, too. With this type dryer, the dryer has to heat properly in order for the timer to advance in the auto cycles. your first check needs to be to the exhaust vent and vent hood, make sure there aren't any kinks or clogs and the vent hood isn't blocked or collapsed. Jd January 26, 2016 for Model Number pye1000aw Will not start. Hear slow ticking noise from timer assembly. Is it the timer, timer resistor, or could it be many other things? Do not want to go on witch hunt and spend to much money on a 17 year old dryer.
1 Answer Hello JD. Make sure the door switch is good and check the thermal fuse LA-1053. Either will prevent the dryer from running. Read More...

Phillip C. January 06, 2015 for Model Number PYG2300AWW My dryer stopped in the middle of a cycle and appears to be dead. I checked power from my main breaker to the power outlet and I have power. What could have happened?
1 Answer Hello Phillip, This could be the thermal fuse LA-1053. If you test and it is bad, be sure to clear the exhaust duct, (full 4 inch diameter duct all the way to outside), since this is the cause of the thermal fuse failure. If it tests good, the issue can be either the door switch WP53-0148 or the timer WP53-1810. Read More...
Jim November 29, 2014 for Model Number PYE2300AYW The maytag dryer will run 1 or 2 loads then will not start unless it sits for 1/2 hour or so. Also, makes different sound when starting.
1 Answer Jim, It's not likely the timer WP53-1810 It's more likely a weak motor W10410996 or low/borderline voltage to the dryer. Overheated motor bearings or low voltage, will change the sound of the motor when it starts and runs due to the excess "drag" on the motor. Read More...
