P.K.C. for Model Number whirlpool rs696pxb This may be a new one for you. We run a Whirlpool range (RS696PXB) on a small generator on a big sailboat. When the elements come on, it loads down the generator severly because the oven turns on high wattage elements for short durations. I would like to replace the elements with lower wattage ones, about half would be great. Can I get them? Thanks, PK and Julia on the sailing yacht Havfruen.
Answer Hello P.K., This would not work because where you would think, if the elements drew half of the wattage that it would take twice as long to cook. The problem is the practical application would actually cause the cooking process to far exceed twice the cooking time. There is no way to estimate this without totally re-designing the unit. I'm sorry but, if you want to do something like this, you will need to consult with an engineer instead of a technician.
