The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It controls the flow of water into the washer during the fill cycles, ensuring that the correct amount of water enters the tub for washing and rinsing. This valve is crucial for the proper functioning of the washing machine, as it regulates the water temperature and flow.

Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include mineral deposits from hard water, wear and tear over time, or electrical malfunctions. These issues can cause the valve to either not open or close properly, leading to water flow problems.

Symptoms of a bad Water Inlet Valve include:

  • The washer not filling with water
  • Slow fill cycles
  • Water leaking from the valve
  • Incorrect water temperature during cycles

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Answer

Hello John, As per the tech sheet: NO WATER DETECTED ENTERING MACHINE OR PRESSURE SWITCH TRIP NOT DETECTED If, after 30 seconds during Diagnostic Test, less than 3.3 oz (0.1 L) of water has entered the machine, or if during a cycle, the maximum fill time of 13 minutes is exceeded, the valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display. Possible Causes/Procedure If there is no water in the unit: – Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way. – Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves. – Verify inlet valve operation. If there is water in the unit: – Verify that the pressure switch hose is in good condition and properly connected to the tub and pressure switch. 1. Unplug the washer or disconnect power. 2. Verify there is not a siphon problem. 3. Verify wire harness connections to inlet valves, pressure switch, and Central Control Unit (CCU). 4. Check all hoses for possible leaks. 5. Plug in the washer or reconnect power. 6. Verify pressure switch operation (run diagnostic test). 7. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any cycle. Details on the diagnostic test are included on the tech sheet found on the unit. This is normally located behind the lower kickplate of the machine in a plastic bag.
