Manufacturer Part Number: WP8540751

The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It controls the flow of water into the washer during the fill cycles, ensuring that the correct amount of water enters the tub for washing and rinsing. This valve is crucial for the proper functioning of the washing machine, as it regulates the water temperature and flow.

Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include mineral deposits from hard water, wear and tear over time, or electrical malfunctions. These issues can cause the valve to either not open or close properly, leading to water flow problems.

Symptoms of a bad Water Inlet Valve include:

  • The washer not filling with water
  • Slow fill cycles
  • Water leaking from the valve
  • Incorrect water temperature during cycles

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hello Eugene, Pull out the machine and unplug it. Turn the water supplies off, cold and hot, and remove the hoses. I always use a sharpie to mark the hot one, and I mark the faucet so I'll remember that it goes to it. If you accidentally cross the water hoses the machine will set up a fault code and you will have to troubleshoot to figure out what you did. (I say this because I remember doing this when I learned to mark them.) Remove the main top and remove the wires from the valve. The wires should only go back one way because of length. Now be very careful when removing the hose--The plastic nipple on the back of the dispenser will snap off easily. Once this hose is removed, remove the screw that holds the water valve in its' mounted position. Now the valve should easily be removed and the new valve put in its' place. Re-attach everything in the reverse order. Be sure to turn the water supplies back on and plug the unit back in before pushing it back into its' spot.
