Hello J.J., Are you sure you are turning it clockwise? Clockwise to remove means the threads are left handed. In other words, tighten it off and loosen it back on. As long as you are turning it the correct direction, my best suggestion is to use a longer wrench and maybe use a cheater bar on the ratchet for better leverage. It is screwed on and it will screw off unless it breaks. The 7/16 inch wrench will fit a flat spot on the motor shaft. It isn't a hex, just a flat part of the motor shaft between the motor and the belt pulley.
