Customer Questions and Answers for Blower Wheel by Whirlpool

By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18031815
Manufacturer Part Number: WP694089

The Blower Wheel is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. This component is crucial for the proper circulation of hot air within the dryer drum, ensuring efficient drying of clothes by directing airflow through the drum and out the exhaust.

Common causes of a bad blower wheel include accumulated lint and debris obstructing the wheel, physical damage from foreign objects, or general wear from prolonged use. A faulty blower wheel can significantly reduce drying efficiency and may cause the dryer to overheat.

Symptoms of a bad blower wheel include:

  • Longer drying times for clothes
  • Unusual noises during the drying cycle
  • Overheating of the dryer
  • Poor airflow from the dryer vent

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Chuck for Model Number mgdc300xw1

Hello ..my dryer still makes noise. I replaced the pulleys, idler and the belt. I was wondering if it is the blower fan? It still drys very good and there is alot of airflow coming from the the vent. My older dryer by maytag had fan Y303836 that would constantly round out the inner nub, causing this type of noise (it would also take long time to dry items). However, my current dryer MGDC300XW1 has a threaded on fan(no longer a d shaft), but the noise sounds the same(like a warbling fan). I am having hard time believing it is the fan given this new design and it still drys good ....but not sure what else it could be.

Answer

Chuck, It still could be a cracked blower wheel or something wrapped around the blower or motor shaft and "tapping" the blower housing. If there is a cracked or broken blower vane or rail the wheel will go out of round and tap, it could also be a build up of lint on a couple of vanes causing the wheel to "wobble" like an out of balanced wheel.
