The air filter cartridge cleans the air as it comes into the engine. It will remove any particles and debris, keeping the engine free from buildup and problems. The air filter will become dirty and clogged with regular use and needs to be replaced as a part of routine maintenance. This is typically done once or twice a season, depending on frequency of use. It may be necessary to replace intermittently if there is an emergency issue. Air filters cannot be cleaned and should always be replaced with a genuine OEM replacement. This OEM air filter can be used with Briggs & Stratton engines in select lawn mowers and blowers from Toro, Husqvarna, and Briggs & Stratton. This pleated paper filter includes a plastic frame. The foam pre-filter cleaner is sold separately, and this cartridge is sold as an individual unit. Air filter replacements require no tools, but it is important to allow the engine to cool completely and wear gloves when performing maintenance and repairs.
When the carburetor is bone dry, the lawnmower may be challenging to start. A priming bulb can help get the engine going. It is a plastic nipple or button, placed at the side of the carburetor. When pressed down, it takes gas from the tank. The fuel will then flow into the carburetor. When sufficiently primed, the carburetor will produce a fuel and air mixture necessary for starting the engine. When a priming bulb has a hole or is loose, it may not be able to pull gas from the tank. A replacement is needed. First, remove the primer bulb cap. Use a flat screwdriver and push the clip holding the bulb. Once the clip is disengaged, take the primer bulb out. Get the replacement and insert its clip (with the tabs facing up) to the bulb. Put the brand-new primer bulb in. This Midwest Engine 694395 Carburetor Priming Bulb OEM Replacement is a brand-new genuine part compatible with MTD models. To install this replacement carburetor primer bulb, a nut driver and a screwdriver will be needed. This primer bulb is sold individually.
