This is a flexible gasket that seals around the control panel area of the range, preventing heat and moisture from reaching internal components behind the panel. It is typically gray in color and fits along the edges of the panel. Replace this gasket if it is cracked, hardened, or missing, which can allow heat to damage control board wiring or cause discoloration around the panel.
