The purpose of a carburetor body gasket is to seal off the carburetor and prevent it from taking in air when it is not supposed to do so. Symptoms of a malfunctioning or broken carburetor body gasket can include strange vibrations from the engine while operating the appliance, a “hunting” idle and an engine that runs lean, or a backfiring engine.
