James B Great Falls , VA August 30, 2019 Dishwasher made a humming sound and no water sprayed Dishwasher made a humming sound but no water was circulating around. Searching around, I decided that it was either the inlet valve or the pump/impeller. I started with the inlet valve since it’s an easier repair. It didn’t work, no problem, now I have a spare. I then changed the pump and motor assembly. When I got the old one out, the impeller was broken along with a crack in the plastic housing. The repair took about 3 hours following along with the video. The dishwasher now works like new. John D Tewskbury , MA April 20, 2018 Appliance: Model SHX45P05UC/58 The machine would not enter the wash cycle or would try Hearing a metal on metal noise and not actually circulate water cancelling cycle worked fine After some web research, I concluded it was highly likely to be the circulation pump, so I watched the video on AppliancePartPros.com and realized it was a lengthy repair (a lot of steps) but not technically difficult. I simply played and paused the video at each step and duplicated the steps. The biggest things to take note of: 1) take good pictures of the wiring to use when you re-connect. 2) Wear gloves when reaching down between the housing and the base when disconnecting or reconnect components. The sheet metal edge where the sump mounts is VERY SHARP. I cut myself several times. 3) Pay special attention to the rubber mounts used to hang the circulator pump assembly. As the unit is laying on its side with the base partially separated they have a tendency to release for their hanging positions. Make sure they are in position during re-assembly.
