We saved the two screws from the previous cover. We put the latch in the cover and screwed the cover back in using a special screwdriver than fit the screws that we had in a screwdriver set. Appliance repairmen quoted prices of $350 and $290. We paid under $30 for parts. Loosen 2 screws and remove cover plate, slip new part in slot, replace cover. Dryer can be fixed in place. In my case the broken latch had fallen Inside and I wanted to retrieve it so I removed top and used a cable parts grabber to retrieve it.
