The air filter ensures that dirt, dust, and other debris does not get into the carburetor and the engine, where it would cause damage. Filters are used for combustion engines to help ensure they stay running properly. Over time, air filter cartridge will collect the dust and debris and will eventually become clogged. When this happens, the carburetor and engine will not get enough air, which can lead to poor engine performance. Replacements should be made at least a couple of times a season, or whenever the air cleaner cartridge has become clogged. Replacement is simple and takes only minutes.
