This direct-drive gearcase converts the washer motor's power into the agitation and spin motions. Replacing a worn gearcase restores normal drive function so the washer can agitate and spin as intended. What it does

• Transfers motor rotation to the agitator and spin basket for wash and spin cycles
• Worn or damaged gear teeth can cause no agitation or no spin
• Damaged gearcase may produce loud grinding, clunking, or unusual noises during operation
• Failure can cause intermittent drive or loss of drive in one or both cycles

• Disconnect power and water before starting any repair to prevent shock or flooding
• Drain the washer and secure the tub/agitator before removing components
• May require removing the cabinet or access panels and supporting the drum during service
