When the piston compressed the fuel-air mixture, the spark ignites and causes combustion. If the pistons are going bad, owners might notice white or gray exhaust smoke, low power when accelerating, loss of performance, or excessive oil consumption.Pistons may need to be replaced for any number of reasons. They could have damage to their crown, which could be caused by overheating. There could be impaction marks if they were not installed correctly or if the valve timing is incorrect. The pistons could be fused or have elements that have melted, or there could be cracks in the piston. Any of these issues would necessitate a replacement.This piston is used for select small engines from MTD, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, Columbia, and Cub Cadet. Each piston is sold individually and is a genuine OEM part sourced from the manufacturer. Those who need to replace more than one piston will need to buy them separately.
