How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP5809152 / 00791650 Heating Element

Eventually determined the cause of the problem was a broken lower element which is concealed under the bottom of my Bosch Wall Oven. Finally I was able to make arrangements for someone who knew what he was doing to remove the old element and install the new. This was a two man job as we had to remove multiple outer panels to finally get to the element location. Once we had access. removing the old and installing the new was easily completed. Then we had to reinstall the panels and pieces that had been removed to gain access. Reinstalled all of the panels was not difficult, but was time consuming. Once everything was buttoned up and the wall oven had been reinstalled into the wall, we flipped the circuit breaker and then did a preheat. The preheat reached temperature quickly. This repair by just one person would have been difficult because the wall oven had to be removed from the wall and then flipped on its side and then the next side, and the oven was cumbersome and heavy. With 2 of us the repair was easy, but time consuming. 

Because the bake element is concealed below the oven floor, it was necessary to take the oven out from the wall. However, accessing the rear of the oven was not enough. It was necessary to place the oven on its face and remove the bottom panel to access the bake element. Once that was done it was easy enough to remove the element and replace it. Be sure to disconnect the spade connectors from the insulators (disconnect the wires). 

Using AI help, we determined that the Bosch oven has an upper and lower heating element. Both are used for preheating, but the lower element keeps the oven at the set temperature. Since the oven wasn’t keeping temperature it was likely a burned out lower heating element. We turned off the power to the unit, removed the door and removed the oven from the wall. We disassembled the lower part of the oven and replaced the heating element we bought from AppliancePartsPros.com. They shipped same day and I received it in 2 days. It is an OEM part, which is what I wanted. Reassembled and reinstalled and now works great. 

Ordered new lower heating element, watched some you tube videos and cut power , pulled out and replaced. Old element visibly cracked and broken

Ordered new Heating Element. 

Removed oven from wall after opening electrical supply breakers, removed about 40 torx screws to access element and replaced. Reversed order to reassemble, tested operation, congratulated self.
