How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP2821583 / 00165296 Dishwasher Door Hinge Bushing

Checked out the AppliancePartsPros.com online parts/assembly diagrams for our Bosch dishwasher model and ordered the two sided set of new springs + connector ropes + connector-to-door ... plus a couple of other relatively inexpensive adjoining parts that might have become worn over time, just in case they were needed. The extra parts arrived in two days with standard shipping. Called about the "back ordered" primary set of parts (which had been listed as being "in stock" when I placed the order). A very helpful lady took our call and was able to arrange to have the parts shipped directly to us arriving two days later. Pulling the dishwasher out from the cabinet was the hardest part of the fix. The broken rope was quickly evident. The new parts fit perfectly and installed easily. In less than 2 hours the job was done - including the time to go out to the barn for necessary tools, cleaning up behind the dishwasher and around its front, putting everything back, and cleaning up the mess of stuff that had been in the sink cabinet where all the electrical and plumbing connections were made. And in the case of my model - given the extra lengths of power cord and water supply and drain piping in my installation - I could have done it all without disconnectiing anything which would have cut the time spent in half. 

I went on your very user friendly website and looked up my bosch dishwasher. I love your diagrams and I felt confident that I could figure out what we possibly needed to get the door to close correctly and get the washer back working again. Ordered the full hinge piece and an extra bushing. Was able just to slide the dishwasher forward a bit, lift the right side hinge off its seat and pop in the new bushing without disassembling. Fixed! I am retaining the full hinge piece in case of any future door incident but suspect I will never need it 

The springs as delivered from Bosch are held in place by the plastic base. These are not durable and both sides of mine cracked out in less than 4 years of use. I didn't have a clue how I was going to resolve this issue but I ordered a spring set and discovered that they came equipped with METAL brackets which you pound into place with a hammer into a different plastic channel in the base. 

Replacement was a perfect fit! 

Ordered the parts and had a local appliance store do the work, complete Job for $ 

I had an authorized appliance repair person tell me it was the circulation pump which I replaced. It was not that. Though the part I bought from here worked great. I did more research and found it could be that the hinges might have been bent keeping the door from closing 100%. The parts were heavy duty and arrived fast. I replaced the hinges which were easy - medium hard based on skill level. Dishwasher is working 100% now. No problem. Found out after my 4 yo fell on the Dishwasher door during a sword fight w/ his brother which caused the damage. 

Replaced the hinges. 

The dishwasher was leaking from the lower right corner of the door. I ordered new seals for the door perimeter and the base. As I pulled the hinge covers, I noted that the right hinge bushing was damaged. I ordered two new bushings.that evening and, with their usual efficiency, AppliancePartsPro.com processed and shipped my order the next morning. The parts were at my door on the third day. Whether the leak contributed to the bushing damage, I'm not qualified to say. The point is it never occured to me to pull the dishwasher and check for other damage before placing my first order. I share this information in the hope that others don't experience a similar delay. The repair itself is straightforward. Just take your time and follow the steps in sequence.
