How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP4512904 / 00617229 Switch

Replaced all the switches that sense the door closed status and found the breaker continued to trip. In researching online for other potential problem areas that trip breakers, I read a blog post by someone that others criticized as being to technical anoveranalyzingng the problem. He noted the timing of the switches was subject to very minute tolerances .He had measured in fractions of a second differential resulting in tripping breakers. I closely inspected the two hooks and the surface they slide over to latch the door and noticed apparent wear on that slopped surface at the edge where the hook drops over and engages to lock the door. Ordered the component that the hooks catch on (Bosch calls it "Sensor Mounting" as it hold the sensing switches in place). Success-no further breaker trips after replacing the switches AND sensor mounting! 

Replaced the switches and a fuse. Seems to work fine. The service from your company was great. You did send a damaged part out but replaced it right away thanks for that. 

I changed all 3 door switches. They all tested good with a meter but 2 were burned. When I changed all 3, the problem was solved. 

I replaced the 3 safety switches in the door jam. Total cost for the 3 switches was $35. Although all of the switches tested good, using the test procedure I found inside the microwave as I took it apart, the switches were apparently INTERMITTANT! The contacts in the switch would apparently stick, causing a short, so the timing of all switches didn't work in sync intermittently. After replacing them, all is good. 

Two door switches were replaced and it works great now. Bosch said I should contact a repairman ($200 plus) and they did not have a recall on the problem. I replaced the two switches in about 10 minutes for about $20. 

I installed a replacement middle switch. There are three of them and one of them was shot. A simple multimeter or continuity checker will verify. My microwave had the chart for diagnosing wedged inside, next to the control panel. There are numerous videos available online that will help out if you need it. These switches are not very well constructed and within a month the new switch failed. Partspros sent me a replacement. They are not very expensive and shipping was about twice the cost. I learned my lesson and ordered a few extras to have on hand for when it goes out the next time. 

Pretty easy repair. Careful with the wiring.
