How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP4509079 / 00618605 Roller And Cable Assembly

Disconnected power, water supply and discharge lines. Turned dishwasher upside down, removed 4 screws holding bottom on. Then slightly lifting the bottom I could put the new roller tension part in place. 

Went to applianceParts.com, recommended by a friend. Looked for parts and watched video. Because I could not see the parts before repair I wanted to verify I was ordering the right parts. There was a place on the order form to verify the model number (smart). I received the parts, watched detailed video, several times during repair. Everything went well, would have been very frustrated with out the video. I will use use appliance parts again 

Ordered too many parts - springs did not need to be replaced so I have a set of those. All parts came quickly. Repair completed and door works fine. 

Called help line and got a great guy on the phone, Dokota, he walked me through the replacement and found a video that was scantily what I needed. Great customer service. 

This was the second time within a month that the cable snapped. After inspecting it during the second installation of the new assembly, we found that there was a sharp plastic piece on the roller where the nylon string cable was rolling over and caused it to fray and snap. AppliancePartsPros did not charge me for the new cable assembly due to their great warranty! I inspected the new cable before installing it and this plastic roller was fine … no sharp piece of plastic to fray the nylon rope this time! 

I removed the dishwasher from under the counter (disconnecting water and electric), confirmed that the springs were fine, and saw that the string had worn down and snapped on one of the tension roller assemblies. I ordered new tension roller assemblies (there were two in the package). I removed the side panels and the base to install them. The entire project took me about six hours for dishwasher removal, diagnosis, repair, and re-installation. This also included replacing the drain hose, which I discovered was cracked when I removed the dishwasher to diagnose the door problem. 

I followed the videos. 

Purchased and installed a new Roller and Cable Assembly.

Flip the dishwasher upside down (it was not installed), remove 4 torx bolts holding white base to the stainless part, remove old rollers and the pieces of string, install new ones, hook them to the door and to the springs, bolt the base back and voila!
