How to Troubleshoot & Replace Broan AP5613701 / SR111630 Range Hood Light Socket

I pulled out the wiring harness for the bulb and really inspected the sockets. (The wire connections on one of the sockets were really loose and the inside of that socket was a little melted.) I replaced the light wiring harness and sockets. It was a really simple fix. I turned off the power to the range hood at the breaker box first. I removed the filters and the light bulbs. I only needed a medium sized crosspoint screwdriver to remove 5 screws that hold up the light housing. The wiring harness plugs into the main harness and the sockets clip into the light housing. Then put it back together. Mom thinks I'm a genius!! 

I ordered the light kit and disassembled the hood fan & light. Replacing the lights are easy, putting it back together is another story. You need an extra hand to hold everything up in order to put the screws in. In the past I have had issues screwing a new bulb in as the sockets are a rough fit. It had caused the spring clips to pop out, which means you have to take it apart to replace it. I would recommend replacing the bulbs with LED lights that you should never have to replace, plus they are cheaper to operate. 

I found the part number in the owners manual, APP had the number in stock, it was an exact fit. The price was reasonable, shipping was quick and reasonable. APP gets my vote. 

One of my Mother's range hood lights quit working. Take out the hood filters, take out 6 screws which takes the front and cover for fan off. Checked with meter and found that one of the light sockets had gone bad.Located model number on side wall under range hood filter. East to order and easy to install. Unplugged old wiring harness, snapped in new sockets and plugged new wiring harness in. Fixed in five minutes and mom thinks I'm a genius ! 

Took cover off. Took out defective part and replaced with new part. Put cover back on.

Nice and easy. Turn off power from the breaker box. Unsnap the harness remove light sockets. Then reverse the process. As I had no power for light, I had on my Sure Fire headlamp. Super quick shipping too. I ordered it Friday had it Saturday. 

Ordered new switch and light wiring harness. Order came in, 15 minutes later it's working. 

The fix was easy had verified with on line chat that I had the correct part. Shipping was very quick and fix was only a few minutes. 

Simple....order from appliance parts pros. It was very easy just snapped in the new part and reassembled the hood,turned the breaker back on done in about 15 minutes.
