Jeryl B Center Point , IA May 09, 2014 Mom's broan allure range hood had a light that would not stay on when she wiggled the bulb was the whole socket was loose certified(?) repairman had come out twice but failed to fix it I pulled out the wiring harness for the bulb and really inspected the sockets. (The wire connections on one of the sockets were really loose and the inside of that socket was a little melted.) I replaced the light wiring harness and sockets. It was a really simple fix. I turned off the power to the range hood at the breaker box first. I removed the filters and the light bulbs. I only needed a medium sized crosspoint screwdriver to remove 5 screws that hold up the light housing. The wiring harness plugs into the main harness and the sockets clip into the light housing. Then put it back together. Mom thinks I'm a genius!! Read More... 62 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Steven P Washingtonville , NY April 18, 2015 Appliance: Model KENMORE 233.55029000 Socket was burnt causing bulb to not light I ordered the light kit and disassembled the hood fan & light. Replacing the lights are easy, putting it back together is another story. You need an extra hand to hold everything up in order to put the screws in. In the past I have had issues screwing a new bulb in as the sockets are a rough fit. It had caused the spring clips to pop out, which means you have to take it apart to replace it. I would recommend replacing the bulbs with LED lights that you should never have to replace, plus they are cheaper to operate.
