How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP3965251 / 154106202 Heating Element Nut

Changed heating element and the nuts that went on the heating element. 

When I identified a leak coming from the Heating Coil, I saw that the Heating Element Nut on both sides were corroded and could not hold the heating element tight any more. I ordered replacement parts and the fix was very easy. As I was running the test afterwards, I discovered that there was a leak coming from under the door. I realized then that the reason the heating element nut corroded was because of a leak in the door. I ordered a new door gasket and door seal (that goes at the bottom of the door) to fix the problem. There is still some splash that happens during the heavy cycle and the Splash Guard that is sold separately is not compatible with my model. I took the old door seal and mounted it as a shield under the door. This stopped the splash and does not interfere with the door. 

Replaced the heater element, per the video. Also had to connect a new terminal to one of the heater element wires. Once the heater was again connected electrically, the washer completed the entire wash cycle without hesitation. (During the time that the heater element was non-functional, the control "dial" would stop near the bottom, about half way through the cycle, and had to be advanced "one click" manually). The Heater Terminal Shield goes over the Heating Element Nut better if you subject the plastic to very hot water first. The entire repair cost about 1/10th the prices we were seeing for a new portable dishwasher washer.

Replaced heating element and soap dispenser. The videos on how to do the repair are awesome. Made the job much easier. 

Replaced defective element, without removing unit from cabinet! Extremely easy repair! 

Replaced both brass nuts $13, and about 7 minutes. Pulled lower front panel to access them, & didn't have to pull out dishwasher. Works like a champ. 

The drain motor had broke from its holding bracket. I plastic welded it back together and reinstalled it. Ordered a replacement motor. 

Replaced cracked heating element nuts. 

I am a woman and did this project along with a lot of other DIY projects/repairs. I looked under there and seen where it was leaking at. Went to your website and looked for part. There was a video about how to repair it. Worked like a charm! I would have had to pay close to $150.00 if not more for this problem and instead it was about $12.00.
