How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP3890378 / 316436000 Range Surface Element Switch

Replaced bake element, replaced surface heat elements and controllers. 

Pulled stove out, unplugged, took 6 screws out removing top back cover, then replaced control! Two screws held it from the front. Pulled each wire off and reconnect one at the time! Put everything back together and reinstalled stove back to its original spot! The whole process took less than 10 minutes! The part was just what I ordered and got her in record time! Thank You for your service! 

Replaced Lg Surface Element Switch in Control Panel. 5 Screws. Videos are available. Repair cost about $25 

Watched video - took about half an hour including moving oven out from cabinets. 

My husband suspected the dials or heat regulators and I search youtube for answers. One showed us what to do with the stove. We took the back off where the dials are and removed one of the switches. I went on line to search for new parts locally but to know avail there wasn't supply in town. I spoke with the customer service person and she was wonderful and she was able to order the parts for me from the model number on the stove. My husband replace all four switches and it works fine now. Even if we didn't have to replace all, we went ahead and did it that way. Better safe than sorry or fire. Thank you for great prompt service. 

Verified burners worked by swapping positions on range top. All burners worked so tested output on two bad burner receptacles. Both receptacles had no input until power level of 7 or higher was set on switch. Ordered switches and universal element receptacle kits due to age and condition of range. Replaced switches on bad large and small burners in about 10 minutes. Working fine now. Only issue was "how to videos" had a different model for removing upper portion of stove, but that was minor. Took a couple extra minutes to remove range top to access some additional screws but was intuitive based on sheet metal sections. Great site for replacement parts and delivery was fast...within 3-5 days and I am in a remote location. Frigidaire Model FEF316BSD electric range 

The new switch unit was a substitute/replacement part 'cause the don't make the old part anymore, thankfully. The old part failed due to rust. The replacement switch unit is larger than the old part but still fits nicely. It also appears to be built better too. The Old Unit failed due to rust. I believe the others may begin to fail due to rust too. It may be just a matter of time. The config of the replacement unit differs greatly, but the labeling on the back are the same. The backs are labeled L1, L1 P, H1 H2 on both units. So I just made sure I placed each wire onto the same labeled connection it came from, i.e., L1 of the old to L1 on the new, H1 of the old to to H1 on the new, P of the old to P on the new, etc. Easy Install! 

I replaced the surface element switches & the clicking stopped. 

Arching can lead to fires, so needed to replace all 4 instead of buying new stove. Will be taking off all burner temp controls (aka: rheostats) and using the exploded view from App Parts Pro will take no time at all! This is my second purchase from APP parts Pro and totally couldn't be happier. I love the part lookup and if it doesn't look the same, avoids sending back parts. This company is great!
