How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7216187 / WB30X46986 Oven Broil Element

Ordered a new one. took out 4 screws. Pulled the 2 electrical connectors loose and removed. Replaced the same way. FIRST thing to do is to turn off the power.

Purchased new element from the world's best parts company - "Appliance Parts Pros". I've done this with ovens before. Still I watched your video. So I started doing the replacement from inside the oven. WOW that was a problem. The wires were so short that I couldn't connect them from inside. Spent 30 minutes trying then gave up. Your video back up was take the back panel off and work with the wiring from there. So I screwed in the new element, took off the back panel, and plugged the wires in from the back. Took maybe 6 minutes. Simple. Last one at my old home I did from inside and the wires were plenty long. So even though I didn't exactly use your video's method it gave me courage to remove the back panel and easily complete the job from the back. I love your videos. I used them when repairing a faulty gas valve set up on a dryer a couple years ago. Never would have tried it without seeing the video. The same with replacing the agitator on my old GE washing machine. I could afford to call a service person, but I get a lot of satisfaction in doing the job myself... well not entirely myself, your videos are looking over my shoulder. My son is very handy and installed it and it works fine . I was able to save a lot of money by getting the part. Thank you for the fast efficient delivery . If I need any more a parts I will certainly order them from you.. 

Replaced both bake and broil elements because both were the same age 

DYI 

Simple, unscrew the plate at the back, pull off the electrical connections, connect replacement part and screw it back on. Easier than changing a light bulb. HUGE difference im getting to the desired temp and maintaining that temp. 

Turned off power, removed the door by opening about half way and pulling up. Removed four screws, eased out the elements, disconnected leads... install new parts by connecting the leads, easing elements back in their places, replace screws, put the door back on and turn power back on. 

Remove the mounting screws, and broil element. Open the main back cover and retrieved shorted wire from the back, cut the wire, stripped, and added a proper connector. Then plugged in the coil and remounted it. Next, turn on the broiler and cheer that it is repaired. The video regarding the wire disappearing into the back of the oven helped make the repair easy. Replaced. Replacement video helped. I used twist ties to hold the wire connectors in place. Easy replacement.
