Alice H Wickenburg , AZ August 18, 2017 Appliance: Model GE GSS25WGMD WW Door would not finish closing on its own as it had before (exterior door "fresh food side") 1) By using google to find videos on why the door wouldn't close, I found out I needed new cams, those same videos also showed how to remove and replace the door. 2) Then by googling the fridge model number and the word 'cam', I was able to find the parts. 3) Taking the door off was simple, I needed a phillips head screwdriver to remove the hinge cover, however the screws in the hinge plate were so tight, I needed a side handle socket wrench to loosen them. 4) The door itself is not hard to handle than say one of the old Dyson Vacs from the 90s. 5) Replacing the cams was simple, just remember one of those cams is on the ubderside of the door so you have to turn the door upside down once you get it off. 6) Along with the replacing the cams I also added a trust washer under the cam that sits on the hinge attached to the body of the fridge. (not on door bottom). 7) Putting the door back on was a little tricky, but nothing big. --------------> LESSON LEARNED <--------------- 8) The door STILL would not close properly after completing all the above steps,ONLY after RELOADING all the grocery items back into the door compartments, did the door start shutting on its own again. Jack W Mount Airy , MD June 06, 2017 The door on the frig would not close tight I determined it was a worn lift cam on the bottom of the door. I went on line to find a place that sold the lift cam. Your site showed a part that had a picture of something that was a cam and thimble. I ordered the part . It came in a very short time. I took the hinge off the door and found out the cam was the same part but the thimble was not needed and the hole needed to be round not elongated. I cut off the thimble , jigged up the cam and drilled the elongated hole out so it indexed correctly on the hinge. When this ended the part fit perfectly and the door closes like new.
