How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP4390010 / WD12X10284 Fill Cap Assembly

Using your program, I loaded the info re my trusty old dishwasher (not ready to abandon over a cap) and you located the proper cap to replace my old one that has been lost for years. [don't ask how that happened in the first place!] I really didn't think you would have a part for an 18-20 year old dishwasher. After ordering the replacement cap, it arrived within a few days. I was so excited that I could fix this problem myself without calling an expensive repairman! I simply removed the part from the bubble wrap and Voila! It was easy to screw right into the threading of the dishwasher. Now my glasses & dishes should have that shine I've missed for a long time. Wish I had known about your site sooner--tell everyone you know! 

Repair parts arrived super fast. Installed the new parts according to the supplied instructions. All went well. It took over 2 hours because the unit had to be removed after the water and power were disconnected and then the initial problem diagnosed (motor brushes worn beyond service limits). The removal of the spray bar tower assembly was a challenge until it was discovered that the tower unscrews in a CW direction from the bar that then allowed access to the attachment screw that holds that agitator bar to the base of the liner that leads to the motor/pump assembly. There was no instructional for that phase of the project probably due to the age of this appliance. After that things went fast. After reassembly and installation it was discovered that the drain hose was clogged which then necessitated appliance removal, hose cleaning and then re-installation. Appliance works fine now. 

My great deal on my Dishwasher but then I checked it out when I got it home and it needed bottom rack wheels and I also did not get the faucet adapter. I had an older Crosby Portable Dishwasher and the faucet adapter worked for the GE but I sold that to a friend and they needed that faucet adapter so back to Appliance Parts Pros I went. Got the faucet adapter extra quick so I can use the proper one with the newer GE. I am very happy with the parts and that it was an easy fix. 

I purchased a new fill cap assembly when it arrived I unscrewed the old and screwed the new one in. 

Well I first called around my area and no one had the part. So I then did a web search and came across APPLIANCE PARTS PRO. I also looked at other Appliance web places and compared cost. I went back to Appliance Parts Pro and ordered my part. 

Installed a new one 

It was great finding a replacement door gasket here that was shipped so quickly. The video made it perfectly clear how to install it. 

Went easy just wish it would of came with new screws but it went quick. 

Added the missing piece after it arrived in the mail. 

Ordered new parts, watched repair video, installed parts, ran wash cycle...done.
