How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2063068 / WR13X10020 Lower Door Hinge Kit

Ordered the Lower Hinge Kit and followed the web site video. The cams had been broekn for a couple years. I let it go and let go until the door would pretty much no longer stay shut. I was kicking myself when it only took me a matter of 2-3 minutes to complete the whole replacement process.

Went online to youtube for videos. Could not find a video of draw front but figured it out. 

After purchasing the needed parts from AppliancePartsPros.com - the repair was easy to make. Refrigerator door is now working as new once again. 

Lifted door up about 1/2 inch and rested it on wooden block. Used socket and wrench to remove and install hinge. Done! 

My husband and I removed the door and replaced the bottom hinge which had completely wore out and broken apart. This was a major cost savings as my husband wanted to replace the refrigerator instead of repairing the door. It's a 27 year old GE Profile Side-by-Side, and I love it. No fancy electronics just a dependable fridge. 

I ordered the parts, they were shipped the same day, took 2 days to get to me. I then followed the installation shown in the video without any problems. Each hinge took about 20 minutes after having all of the tools assembled. Only slight change from the video is that I had a second person steady the doors as they tried to slip off of my supports while remove and installing the fasteners. The screws them selves had over an inch of threads so it took a while to get them removed, not difficult, just time consuming. 

Our garage refrigerator door would open and close, but wouldn't stay closed unless you lifted up on the door while you closed it. I skimmed through the YouTube video Appliance Parts Pros attached to the receipt email to get an idea of what I was up against. It took about 10 minutes to replace the lower hinge. Instead of using wood blocks to keep the door up, I slid an automotive jack under it and lifted it enough for support. There were four 8mm hex head bolts that held the cam and hinge (two on the refrigerator and two on the door). It was as simple as removing the old hinge and installing the new one in it's place. Now the door stays closed like it's supposed to. 

I ordered the kit and recruited my wife for assistance. We followed the instructions and completed the job in less than a half hour.
